The Southern Girl Academy has completed the first semester of lessons. Actually, those were finished in May, but things were a little hectic then, so we had the end-of-school party this weekend. In case you haven’t followed along, SGA is a collaborative effort. My friend Savannah and I were the chief instigators of shenanigans. We recruited another 18 women who are smart, funny, gracious and Southern to contribute weekly lessons.
Unfortunately, when you pick ladies like this, other people have also picked up on their fabulousity, so scheduling a meal when everyone is available is virtually impossible. We managed to wrangle ten together at Capital Bar & Grill to eat, drink and laugh. We celebrated being the inaugural SGA board.
Thanks to all who contributed to this effort: time, creativity, writing, photos, music or gifts for our lovely writers. It’s really great to see this fun idea Savannah and I cooked up driving back from Austin really worked.
This does not mean, however, SGA is over. It’s just on summer break. Check back in the Fall. There is just no telling what a bunch of Southern girls will do next.
